Russia negotiates submarine supplies to Indonesia and Philippines
Submarines of project 636 equipped with Caliber missiles are very popular in the world, a Russian presidential aide for military and technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin told reporters on Thursday.
“Indonesia is on the way, as well as the Philippines, Thailand and a number of more countries, which I will not name. It is the most popular project,” Kozhin said at the navy salon held in the Russian city of St. Petersburg.
Mr. Kozhin added that supplies of submarines of project 636 in Vietnam were over.
As a reference, a submarine of project 636 is the further development of project 877 EKM submarine. Construction of the first boats of this generation began in 1979.
